Janne or Kaat?

hey everyone,

I'd love to ask for your help in choosing a name for our second daughter!
We're looking for a tough, short 'Flemish' name, and after much deliberation, it's now down to Janne or Kaat.
We just can't make up our minds... Kaat feels quite strong, but you can call her Kaatje for the first few years, which I find super cute. With Janne, I hope people won't pronounce it like Jeanne or something...
We already have a daughter named Elien, so it needs to fit well with that.

Which of the two would you choose and why?

    Yes, Elien is such a calm name, maybe Janne is better.

    Janne! I don't think Kaat is a pretty name when she gets older. Janne is, and I also think it goes really well with Elien.

    Given the spelling and pronunciation, I don’t see how you can pronounce Janne as Jeanne. So I wouldn’t worry about that.

    I like Janne the most. Maybe I like Janna even more...

    I like both names!
    Kaat comes across as tough and stubborn to me!
    Janne feels a bit sweeter to me.
    In combination with Elien, I think Janne looks nicer.

    Maybe Jaantje?

    Janne and Janna both sound lovely. I know an adult Kaat, a nice person, so for me that's a positive association too. She still gets called Kaatje sometimes. But I think it's actually a short form of another name for her.

    With Elien, I think Kaatje is the nicest after all!

    For the name Kaat, I'd always go with Catharina officially. As a nickname, I find it nice, but not as an official name; feels a bit unfinished.

    So, preference for Janne.

    I'd rather go with Kaatje instead of Kaat. Or Janne, of course.

    Neither is my taste.
    But if I had to choose, I'd go with Janne.
    I find Kaat such an old-fashioned, nagging name.
    I don't know anyone with that name.
    But it just comes across to me like that.

    Our daughter is named Janne...
    I'm Karen myself, and they call me Kaat or Kaatje. Even now that I'm almost 30 ;-)

    I like Janne the best. Otherwise, I'd go with Kato.
