Looking for a girl's name!

RTGuest ·
Hi! I'm looking for a girl's name. I can easily name 20 suitable boy names, but the perfect girl's name just isn't coming to mind. Since we're having a girl, help is welcome!

It has to be somewhat demanding: a hip, short (1 or 2 syllables), tough girl's name, but still feminine and chic, and not "aso" (street/rough). Names like Chelsey and Samantha, for example, I absolutely don't find beautiful for us.

Who can help?

What boys' names do you like? Then I might get a bit of an idea!

    Sara/Saar
    Jasmijn
    Philou
    Suus
    Lila
    Cato
    Pien
    Pleun
    Mina

    Something like that?

    Our daughter is named Saar.
If we have more daughters, they might be named Juul and/or Fien!
Maybe these are options? Good luck with your choice.

    X

Yes!! Cato Saar, Philou and Suus are nice! But friend vimdt of no. Cato possibly, but I'm hesitant because of the hard sound. Thom Kars Siem Stef are nice boy names. Friend something more chic: Oscar Casper Lotte Marlou

Do you not have any name in mind at all that you find beautiful? There must be something that appeals to you? Something that comes to mind. Weird people.

I find your answer quite sensible, actually. I'm just pointing out that deep down, someone might have a name in mind that they find beautiful? People nowadays don't follow their own feelings and hearts anymore, and think someone else's opinion is more important. Let me react however I want! There's freedom of speech here, you know! Maybe there really is a name that they secretly feel deep inside; I'm just pointing that out. Jesus!

Ok, indeed, I can understand your reaction. But the words 'weird people' came across wrong to me. It's a downside of writing too much and not being able to hear the tone...

Thanks. I just see so often that with such personal choices, people give too much weight to someone else's opinion. Often, people really do have a secret preference or a deep feeling about their own opinion in this case, for a name. But they don't admit it because they care too much about what others think of it. Difference is what makes a person unique. In this society, many people just don't follow their own feelings enough anymore, and I think that's a pity. For example, my girlfriend thought Luna was a really beautiful name for her daughter even before her pregnancy. I heard for 2 years that she would name her daughter Luna when she got pregnant. But she got opinions thrown at her that it was too common and not nice or unique. In the end, she named her differently, and I still hear that she secretly still thinks about Luna. She let herself be influenced too much by what others thought in hindsight. And that's exactly what I mean. Whether it's insecurity or fear that others will think you're weird or whatever. People ask too much for someone else's opinion and also care too much about what someone else thinks. Whatever name your heart tells you to go for, whether it's rare, too common, or old-fashioned, follow it. And that applies to everything in life, I think. OK, "rare" was maybe not the right word choice, yeah. I just find these kinds of opinion questions a pity. I think someone should just follow their own heart when it comes to something so personal and wonderful. What others think of it doesn't matter! And that's not what I mean in a bad way.

I totally agree with you on that! That’s why I haven’t written our name choice anywhere or asked for opinions.
We follow our hearts and our miracle will get the name we want.
I reacted that way to you because I often read anonymous people on forums trying to tear others down. You’ve now made it very clear that wasn’t your intention. But your reply was just the straw that broke the camel’s back for me I’ve been home for a few weeks now, so lots of time for forums plus hormonal issues isn’t a good combination

    I get your reactions.
Thanks for that! I do have preferences, but my partner doesn’t find these names beautiful.
That’s why we’re looking for alternatives, and sometimes someone can come up with a surprising name. So feel free to keep going with that

Haha Poesh, thanks for your understanding And I totally get your reaction! I should have phrased myself differently, yeah. It's nice to hear that you're keeping the name personal! It's none of anyone's business except for dad and mom, no matter what others might think! I love it when people follow their own hearts! No matter what. You go girl! I see you're almost at 36 weeks, and I totally understand those flying hormones! Lots of strength for later, and health to your little miracle! And that the name comes from your heart means it'll be the most beautiful name you can give..

And for those looking for a name, go ahead and cozy up with your partner and go through a baby name book together, writing down your favorite names. There's sure to be one that you both wrote down. That's how you make it personal. Or look at name lists online together—there are plenty with meanings that you can Google. Make it a cozy, personal evening and do it together..

Thanks! I also think Nouk is nice. I'll run it by the family.
