    I find all those names with a Y getting a bit cliché these days. That's why Machiel.

    I don't like Maylo: it's a bit of a mix between Milo and mayo(naise).
    Marchiel is okay though.

    Machiel works. It's much better than Maylo. I think Michiel is nicer than Machiel. But anyway, everyone has their own preference, Machiel is fine.

    Names ending with an O are often seen as inconsiderate.

    My stepchildren are named Tygo and Mauro. I speak from experience..

    Except for the name Milo (Dutch pronunciation), which is quite chic. But I understand what Marlies means. Another reason not to choose Maylo.
