Bunny, I'd go for Enya or see what fits best once your baby is born—Enya or Roos

Both are fine. Maybe you should check after the birth which of the two names suits the baby best. Or see which of the two names fits best with the last name.

I don't think Enya and Anna can't go together.
But my personal preference is for Roos!

Enya and Anna can totally go together. No problem at all.

You don't have to care about a family name unless it's exactly the same. Enya is quite different from Anna, so that doesn't matter.

I do have a slight preference for Roos, because Enya sounds to me like: "En, yeah..."

If your heart is leaning toward Roos, go with your gut. Especially if your husband is okay with it.
Trusting your instincts like this—you won’t regret it!

Thanks so much for your opinions. It's nice to read! Really nice to be able to talk about it with others.

I also got a bit of that "oh yeah" feeling with Enya recently. But a friend once told me to make sure the name of our child wouldn't rhyme easily with certain "annoying words". I'm thinking of things like "Roos is a box" or "Roos is angry again", or how kids might tease each other with it. On the other hand, they'll probably come up with something anyway if they want to.

My husband doesn't mind in this case. He thinks Roos is fine too. He says he finds the name less important than I do. Of course, he does have certain requirements, like no English names, or names you'll always have to spell, but otherwise he's quickly satisfied. He thinks it's more important that I have a good feeling about the name.

I do think there's quite a big difference between Enya and Anna.
    Keep it up, Enya!
  8. Irma 1987 #9

Can't you rhyme every name, though?

Enya is a beautiful name!!! So much more beautiful and unique than Roos! You hear Roos so often! I also thought it was fine with Anna... Two very different names!
    Good luck

I'll toss it up one more time to see who thinks which name is prettier, Roos or Enya.

BTW Enya is pronounced as Enja.

Enya is actually quite nice now that I'm thinking about it (again ). You don't hear it anywhere, and I'm hearing Roos too much right now..
And about En.. yeah.... I think it's not that bad....
Roos Doos doesn't seem so nice for my baby either.

No more doubting... otherwise just call her Rosa... a bit mixed
  12. ii Guest #13

I think Roos is a fine name, but Enya is more exciting and less common.
  13. :-) #14

Roos... prettier than Enya.. it's really in my eyes
    And yes...

    Roos becomes rose. Rosie, ro-ro

Enya becomes en ja. Yes yes..

I'm also looking at Troetel and abbreviations for yourself, you know...

    100% Enya!
Sounds beautiful and comes across as stronger than Roos!
    I find Roos cliché.
  15. Liesseling #16

    I'd go for Roos.
  16. lizette Guest #17

I'd go for Roos; I personally don't think Enya is beautiful. I think Roos also fits better with Bram as a combo. Both are nicely Dutch. I think you should always keep that in mind, just in case you have more kids. It has to sound good together. But tastes differ, of course, and if you think Enya is amazing, then just go for it!
  17. Anonymous Guest #18

Roos is such a cute name!
  18. Anonymous Guest #19

I think Enja is really beautiful. Could it be that you're hesitating about the name because it's unique, and you're afraid of what others might think or say?

You've found him so beautiful for such a long time, so definitely go for it. It's a really nice name.

And I always say, you'll grow to love a unique name.

In the meantime, she's already been born and got the name Roos I have no regrets that it ended up being the final choice, and I get lots of compliments from everyone. When we say that we first thought of Enya, they all say they would have found that name less beautiful. The name Roos just fits our girl. We're happy with it.
