I bought a Beaba Babycook. When my daughter was a baby, we were always messing around with pots, cooking and pureeing fruit with a hand blender, and this seems like a much more convenient solution.
Do you have any experience with the Babycook and maybe some handy tips?
We have one too. We have the Avent steam blender. Super convenient! We usually put whatever the pot serves into the blender for our youngest. We've frozen some minced meat in small portions for when the meat is too spicy.
I really believe it's super convenient. My daughter had a cow's milk protein allergy, and until she was 18 months old, we cooked everything separately for her. I used the Olvarit jars (ingredients and ratios) as a guide for recipes. I'd just dump all the ingredients into the pan and, while puréeing, I'd thin the food with the cooking liquid. That way, there was also a brown bean jar with beef and apple, and it was really delicious—about 10 times tastier than what was in the Olvarit jar.
The downside, however, was that I (because it was quite a lot of work) cooked for several weeks at once and froze it. After thawing, though, I found the food wetter and less tasty than before freezing. Then I started using those big bags of frozen vegetables, which I used, and that was ideal, and I can obviously do the same with meat: portion it out and freeze it. I imagine making just one portion with the Babycook is much easier and faster than cooking in pots, which is why I wanted the device.
I believe there's also a little cookbook included with the Babycook. I'm curious! Anyway, I'm glad to read positive feedback here. Thanks!
I also had a Beaba Babycook for my son, it was so incredibly convenient! We froze the meat, minced meat, chicken, and beef in ready-to-use portions, which is super handy. Then you just add some veggies, some fries, and you're done! Super easy to clean.
I also used it for fruit purees; it was an essential part of my kitchen counter. And it won't be any different this time!
I always used to cook for my daughter myself and froze it too. Occasionally I'd give her a fruit snack from Olvarit when we went out for the day or something, otherwise fresh too.
I'm going to check out Babycook, definitely want to make everything as fresh and homemade as possible this time too.
