The name Mesam

Hi everyone,

My partner and I have been looking for a boy's name for a long time.
Our little one is half Afghan, and we're looking for a name that works for both cultures.

I came across the name Mesam. I think it sounds super nice.
But later I saw that it's used for girls in Arabic...

What do you all think?

I don't speak Arabic, so no idea.

The name Mesam is easy to pronounce in Dutch.

    Thanks for your reply!

But when you read the name, didn't you immediately think it was a girl's name haha?

Not quite my taste, but not ugly! It does sound tough. I really think it's a boy's name.

Hi... here's an Arab name... but I haven't heard it before for girls... I also thought it sounded quite boyish... I like the name Fares too. It fits both cultures.

You pronounce it as Feris.. it also has a nice meaning..

Glad that puts my mind at ease haha.
In Arabic, I believe you would spell it as Meysam for a girl.

When I read Mesam, I actually thought of a boy right away...
I find it more of a boyish name than a name for girls...

Nice name, and it works for a boy too. The first thing that came to my mind - despite how cheerful, open, and fun it sounds- was Mesam Sesam.
