Does menstruation change??

Hi ladies,
I had my IUD removed in 2012 (after a term of 2 times 5 years) and since then I've really had a 28-day cycle. I could set my clock by it. However, something has changed since May this year. I thought maybe I was going through the transition. Nothing happened and I didn't feel anything happening either. Because my mother went through the transition very early, the doctor had blood tests done. These were good, so I still have ovulation. So I didn't have my period in June. In July on the 27th I got my period. This was 5 days instead of 4. Then on September 4th I got my period again, very little blood, and it lasted 2 days.
Has anyone experienced this too?
