Breakthrough bleeding pregnant?

Hi everyone,

I have a question.
I've already looked online but couldn't find anything helpful, so I'm hoping for some experiences!

Due to a lot of private 'drama', in all the chaos I started taking my pill 4 days late after the placebo week (so 4 missed pills in week 1).
Then I also forgot the first 2 pills of week 3.
On the 4th day of week 3 I started bleeding, heavier than usual for my withdrawal bleed, and it's been going on for 3 days now.

I suspect I might have ovulated; I've been having sharp twinges and menstrual cramps since week 2, which are still happening, not continuously but once a day.
Last Friday I had another such twinge, and the next day I had a strange feeling on the lower left side, but I don't feel that anymore now.

I'm not exactly sure how breakthrough bleeding works, but I'm just going to finish my pill pack.
I just don't know what to do next.
By the way, a baby would actually be welcome; we were planning to start trying in 2 months and have already talked about it, so if there is a pregnancy, we'd secretly be overjoyed
It's just gone a bit weird, so I hope someone has experienced something similar and can tell me more about it.

Thanks in advance!

If I go by my own experience.
When I forgot 2 pills from the strip, I also got "unwell" 2 or 3 days later. So for me, it was an early breakthrough bleeding.
I can't say anything about starting later after the stop week. I always started on time.

Good luck and let me know how it goes?

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

And how long did that last, roughly?
    Anyway, thanks

My implantation bleeding lasted between 3 and 7 days. It varied, because I still wanted to swallow until max. 3 months, especially in the summer.

Ok, big chance it'll continue during my break week, so..
That's in 5 days (then the bleeding usually starts).

If you shrink the pill again now and then take a break week, you'll just get a period again.

You could also decide to take another pack now.

No, I'd rather not do that.
Just finish this strip and then it's a stop week.

I just lost 2 strands of dark mucus/cervical mucus?
Does that mean I'm not pregnant or does it mean nothing..?
I'm on day 23 of my 27/28 day cycle..

I don't dare tell you right now.
Wait and see for your breakthrough in the stop week, or throw a test at it by then...

    I'll definitely do that anyway.
But if you have something like cervical mucus, does that mean you can't be pregnant?

I lost blood for 3 days and had stabbing pain around my navel, but on the first day there was no mucus and it was really heavy bleeding, and for the next 2 days there was mucus. I kept feeling like I had a bladder infection and that my period was coming... and yet I found out at 4 weeks and I'm now 11 weeks pregnant...

I think you should just wait and see if you get your period during your missed week, and otherwise I'd wait if I were you because tests don't always turn positive right away... and if you're unsure, just go to your GP.

    Hi Tamara,

I actually had the same thought last week that I might have a bladder infection! But that was due to the frequent urination and the constant urge..
Lately I've started noticing small things like itching in my breasts, occasional sharp stabs, also in my belly when I bend forward or sit slumped, or on the bike..

I had plenty of bright red bleeding for the first 3 days and today there was also such a dark brown/red string in it, about 3 cm long.

    That's good, I'll do that.
I'm really curious! Secretly we're hoping really hard

I thought all this time, aah, I'm 9 out of 10 times getting my period every 2 months, you know. And after my last period, I had sex, and in the first week after that, I had visited my gynecologist who said I wasn't pregnant and that I could get an Implanon. So I thought, okay, I'll make an appointment for that. But the following week, I got a severe bladder infection and had to take antibiotics... And when I was finally done with that, I lost blood which turned out to be implantation bleeding. I had so much pain in my stomach and stuff like that, but no more bladder infection, so the doctor did a test and it was negative. In the next two weeks, I did 4 more tests, and then I got the Implanon because everything was negative anyway, and I couldn't be pregnant. A week later, everything still hurt, with stabbing pains in my stomach, breast pain, and severe stomach pain. And because my sister insisted, I did a test anyway, a week after I had the Implanon inserted, and it was positive after an hour. So I went with my sister to get another one, and it was dark dark positive after a second. So I called the gynecologist and was able to come right away and had an ultrasound. They said I was 5 weeks pregnant, but it turned out I was only 4 weeks pregnant, so they removed the Implanon right after the ultrasound. And now I'm already 11 weeks pregnant, so I've almost finished the first trimester...

Okay, but not too much blood, right?
I've actually had a lot for 4 days now.
Just got bright red blood with clots again..
  14. Tamara #15

First day a lot, the other two days very little, so I think it's just your period, or you could ask your GP for advice.

    That's disappointing..
Well, we're testing anyway and still hoping.
    Who knows, secretly maybe
  16. Tamara #17

Haha, I hope so for you, Kim....

Hope those clots don't mean exclusion yet..
It's mostly old blood now but it often goes away and then comes back again.
Tonight's the last pill, Saturday I should get my period.
  18. Tamara #19

W8 Saturday a bit and otherwise test in the coming week or ask the doctor
  19. Kim started this #20

    Yeah, I will do it.
It seems to be really over now, only dark brown now and then a little streak..
I haven't had so little yet.
Also had those thin brown strands again just now.
Was in the shower, quickly felt my cervix, it's halfway and seems a bit tilted. It's firm and I feel a small groove (I always feel this). So it's not completely closed.
So those strands came with it (sorry for the details) but nothing else anymore.
I'm so curious, really can't wait..
