Hi everyone,

I stopped the pill 3 months ago due to hormonal issues, not specifically to get pregnant. For 3 months, my husband and I used protection, but during our holiday last week, we got carried away and decided to leave it to the universe.

My last menstrual period started on August 23 (I was about 5 days into my period). We had unprotected sex on August 30 (withdrawn) and September 5 (ejaculated inside). I never really tracked my cycle or ovulation, so I didn't know when I was most fertile. I did some research later and found out that my fertility was highest between September 3 and September 7.
On September 6, I suddenly had intense period-like symptoms. Severe cramps in my ovaries, and I just felt different. For the past 3 days, I've had very sensitive nipples (which I normally never do). I've never really had issues (or noticed) with ovulation before.

Now, of course, I hope I'm pregnant, and somewhere inside I feel like it might be true (even though I've never been pregnant before). But my mom says it's best to wait until I actually expect my period. What are your thoughts and experiences on this? How soon did you test after ovulation? I think today is 4 days past ovulation.

I look forward to your replies!!

    Hey Kimberley,

4 days past ovulation is too early for implantation, so what you're feeling is probably just what you're hoping to feel.
You could try an early test at 10 days past ovulation.
Personally, I'd wait until 12 days past ovulation—I wouldn't test earlier if I didn't notice anything specific.

    Good luck, girl!

So implantation happens about 2 weeks after ovulation? I was impatient and just took a test. But unfortunately, it's negative. We'll indeed have to be patient.

No, it's actually earlier, but hCG production hasn't started yet. So at most 10-12 days after ovulation. You might be able to see something then. 14 days later, you'll usually either get your period or be pregnant Good luck with the wait.

Ok, yeah, I never really looked into these things until now because we never actively focused on it. And some websites give different info than others. But yeah, I guess I’ll have to be patient. If I’m counting right, I’m on day 5 post-ovulation today, so I’ll try again next week.
Secretly, I’m hoping someone says they tested positive just 3 days after ovulation, haha! That’d give me more hope. Pregnancy tests are 89 cents here, so I’d really love to test every day, haha!

    Yeah, I get it!
3 days after ovulation is impossible, never happens.
Your egg still has a journey to take to the uterus before it implants if it’s fertilized.
Otherwise, read up on Google about what happens after ovulation.
