False alarms often?

How often does someone go to the labor ward with the thought 'yes, it's time' and then get sent home again because the contractions aren't strong enough or haven't caused any dilation yet?

I've already gone to the labor ward twice for nothing because I thought it was time. Am I the only one, or does this happen more often than I think?

It’s especially common with first babies that women think labor has started, but it turns out to be false labor. Staying calm and relaxed helps the most, and maybe booking an acupressure or reflexology session can help the contractions progress.
    Good luck!

It’s my second delivery, but I was induced for my first one due to pregnancy-induced hypertension at 38 weeks, and I had an epidural, so I didn’t feel the contractions back then—I can’t really compare.
But I feel so silly now. I was lying at home, barely able to walk, struggling to get into the car because of this intense, constant pain in my side... And on the monitor, I’d contractions every 2 minutes, but they weren’t causing any dilation. The first time, the contractions completely stopped. This time, they’ve lessened, but they’re still there, which makes me glad it’s still progressing. But if I don’t deliver by Thursday, they’ll probably check and try to induce it again.
I’m curious to see what happens—hope it picks up now.

With me, it was never like that—it was actually the other way around.
I was still trying to hold back the pain of the contractions,
while the midwife came and I had to call much earlier because, according to her, I already had 8 cm dilation.
On the way to the hospital in the car, I had even more intense contractions that it was a close call—I almost gave birth in the car.
I had to really hold back from pushing on the way to the hospital.
When I arrived at the delivery room in the hospital,
she told me to wait a little longer.
I said I couldn’t wait anymore; I felt like I was going to push.
She checked and was shocked—I was already 10 cm dilated and ready to push.
So after two pushes, she was here.
It’s unbelievable how smoothly everything went.
So with me, it was the other way around—they were surprised that I hadn’t called earlier, and I had to go straight to the hospital.

Oh Madelene, that went pretty fast then. Now I'm not going to the hospital anymore until Thursday, otherwise they might think 'there she is again'..
Contractions have also gone quiet again, just a hard belly now and then or stabs in the pubic area, so now I'll just wait until Thursday.

yes indeed, it really hit me hard
I didn't realize I was already so dilated.
gosh, that sounds tough for you too, so just keep an eye on it then
I get your thoughts, you're afraid they'll think "oh here she goes again" but better to go 10 times for nothing
than to go once too late.
strange, I can't imagine labor suddenly stopping, I never had contractions like that myself, so that's why I think that.
yes, I recognize those sharp pains, quite sharp, very painful in my pubic area, I had that too with both the first and the second.
very painful, I remember it felt like a needle suddenly stabbing.
well. I'm curious for you, see you on Thursday
    just wait and see.
my youngest was born earlier than due date, but not by much, her due date was October 20th and she was born on October 13th.
the oldest was also born earlier, 2 weeks early.
and how did it go with your oldest when the contractions suddenly stopped?
Or is this pregnancy completely different from the first?

With my first, I never felt any contractions. No hardening of the belly either, or maybe just a few. Then at 38 weeks I was induced due to pregnancy-induced hypertension, and because I was so sick, they offered me an epidural since I might have had difficulties during labor otherwise. I agreed right away. So, because of the epidural, I didn't feel a single contraction. I only felt the pre-contractions.

Wow, that's quite a difference! It really is a whole different experience, especially when comparing a first and second baby. I had the same back labor as with my first, but this time I was better able to breathe through it. With the first one, it barely worked, unfortunately. I had more back labor than belly labor in both pregnancies. It seems like you can inherit that from your mom too.

Yes, they're two very different pregnancies..
Today I lost my mucus plug (I think). I'm curious if things will start happening on their own now, it's been 2 weeks, on week that contractions start on Wednesday.. So who knows, maybe tomorrow.. And if not, hope that the OB gives it a little push on Thursday. I'm normally due on the 13th but I'm absolutely fed up with it right now, especially since I have contractions every 2 minutes but then they stop again after half a day..

    Exciting Yenila,

Once I lost my mucus plug, I kept going the same day.
I hope the same for you.
Good luck with the final stretch, try to rest a bit, hopefully you'll have your baby in your arms soon.

    Lots of love

    So far, nothing yet...
Around 4:30 my little girl woke up with a wet diaper, so I had to change her, and of course she didn't want to go back to sleep then. By 6:30 she finally wanted to get back into her crib, and I managed to sleep until 9. It did me good because I'm full of energy now and I'm wondering whether I should stay active or just sit quietly to save energy for tomorrow... But it could backfire because I usually get tired again when I stay still for too long.. So I'll just do a bit of stuff
I'm curious. My husband and daughter are both out of the house, so I don't have to watch anyone..

Hey, yeah on Sunday I started having strong and regular contractions, so I went to the ER in the evening just to be safe. On the monitor, the contractions were also strong, every 3 to 4 minutes. I was already 4 cm dilated, so they said they’d keep me there and see how things evolved by morning.. so I could get some sleep. Early in the morning at 2am, I was on the monitor again with regular, painful contractions but still only 4 cm open.. by 9am it was the same, so because I’m only 36 weeks pregnant with twins, they sent me home to wait it out.. I think the mucus plug is gone, because yes, the cervix was soft and they could already feel the head. And since Monday night I’ve had pink/brown mucus discharge... now it’s Tuesday and apart from some stabbing pains in the belly or pubic area, the contractions have stopped... can’t keep up... calm before the storm for sure?????

Here I also went to the hospital twice with false alarms, first time with blood in my urine and second time with regular contractions. Third time vaginal bleeding and then everything kicked in. This all happened on Saturdays, 3 Saturdays in a row even...
