37 weeks and unsure...

Dear moms,
I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions for a little while now... since week 34.
Now I am (tomorrow) 37 weeks. My question is as follows:
I didn't know what contractions should feel like, and at the maternity ward they told me that the sensation I'm experiencing, like period pain, is indeed those contractions... in short, it's just a few times a day... but today it's been all day long... especially after I did something like washing the dishes, and it started up again, radiating into my back... not sharp pain... but a very nagging, aching feeling... really like period pain...
Now I wonder if there are other moms who have or had this? I'm seeing my OB-GYN again tomorrow, so I'll definitely ask her about it too. But I wanted to ask here first, how did you experience it?
