35 weeks, what do I feel now?!

Hi!
I'm 35 weeks pregnant... and I'm getting sharp pains in the sides of my belly. I also sometimes feel period-like cramps.
I can't call my OB because he's on leave, and I can't see him again until the 5th for my next check-up.
I'm sure there are plenty of you here who've experienced this too and know what to do.

Thanks in advance! ???

Ugh, sorry, but that's nonsense if you can't reach your gynecologist! So if you were to go into labor, you'd have to wait until they get back?
There must be an emergency number or a substitute doctor who can answer questions, right?

Sorry I said that, but not being able to reach a doctor because of leave is pure nonsense.
And good for you that you'd rather trust on any experience stories from others than on a doctor, but everyone has their own thing.

You don't need to act so angry, you clearly want to know it badly otherwise you wouldn't post an impatient "anyone??" message after 20 minutes.

I mean no harm, okay... and definitely not angry... it sometimes comes across wrong when you type something that you'd hear differently if someone said it out loud.
If I really felt like something was wrong, I'd obviously listen to a professional first.
But for something like this, I don't think I should constantly call them. It feels like they might have better things to do, you know...
My doctor can't be reached during his leave, it would be a substitute doctor... and of course I want to know what it is and how others experienced it, otherwise I wouldn't use this app

Glad to hear it, I didn't mean it angrily either.
I have a vague suspicion that you're from Belgium? In the NL I can call the midwife as often as I want with the silliest questions the gynecologist really only comes to look if there are complications during pregnancy, hence maybe my confusion.

And you're right, a forum is for sharing experiences but 9 out of 10 times it's still different for everyone!

Hihi yeah I'm from Belgium... we sometimes sound rougher than we mean to...
Here it's always at my gynecologist that I have to go with that I don't want to call the clinic itself for such a question...
And indeed with every pregnancy it's different and from person to person but I'd also like to hear the experiences of others and stuff... you never know what you'll find out... according to my worried mom they could be engagement contractions or practice contractions nothing to worry about...it doesn't feel like I should worry either... I just like to know what's going on in my body with that little one inside me it's also counting down now and the nerves that come with it and stuff I guess that's all part of it too ihi.

    Hi hi!

I'm 34.4 weeks pregnant myself. I recognize those menstrual cramps. I think it's indeed related to the baby dropping. I'm not worried about it anyway. If you are, call a (covering) doctor right away! I also recognize cramps and sharp pains. I think it's related to your organs getting squeezed. But that's just my own logic.

    Xx GJK

    Hi hi...
Just had a little panic after coming back from the maternity ward.. I had to call because I lost some pinkish fluid, so I called right away and had to go straight to the hospital for an examination.
After half an hour of monitoring, everything was okay with our little one. It also turned out that what I felt were just practice contractions
Then there was an internal exam and the small amount of blood was due to the cervix becoming softer and preparing itself...
They said to keep an eye on things now and not to lose any fluid... or if the contractions get worse, I should come back immediately.
They told me to stay as calm as possible...
It was quite a scare, thinking it might start already...
Hopefully my little man will stay put for a little longer..
