Your belly looks quite big for the number of weeks you're pregnant.

Hi everyone,

I have a question, maybe someone here has experience with this.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and went to the midwife last Friday. I need to go back in 2 weeks because my belly is too big for the number of weeks I'm pregnant. In 2 weeks, they'll check if he has grown further; if so, I'll need to start having growth ultrasounds.

I went for a 4D ultrasound last Wednesday, and they said my handsome little guy would have an estimated weight of 1118 grams... According to the week-by-week chart on this forum, this weight is only typical for 29 weeks. Hmm, I'm starting to get a bit worried. Either he had a huge growth spurt, or I'm going to have a big baby.

Who has experience with this?

    Hey Tammy,

I don't have any experience with this. At 26 weeks, my son weighed 845g. So I don't know how much he'll weigh now... I think you're just going to have a big baby. That can't be a bad thing, right, as long as he's healthy, that's allowed!!!

    Good luck with the ultrasound!

    Hi Tammy,

I also had quite a big bump with my first pregnancy. I had a lot of amniotic fluid back then. The baby was also ahead in growth, but now I have a healthy daughter who isn't chubby at all, so there's really nothing to worry about...

I'm 30 weeks pregnant now, and again, the baby is a bit large. But as long as she's healthy and eating well, it's not a big deal. You can't really control it anyway.

    Don't worry too much!

    Best, J.

Hi, what a weird thing to read! I was at the OB last week and according to the ultrasound, our baby weighs 1706 grams. When I asked if that was normal, since the website shows a much lower weight for that gestational age, she said that really doesn't add up. She said it's indeed a bit above average, but definitely nothing to worry about!

    Yeah... me too.
I turned out to have gestational diabetes. Maybe your blood will be checked too.
I'm now 34 weeks and I've got the sugar under control. Still have a big baby, but just above the curve and luckily no reason to panic.
    Strength!

    Hi Tammy,

My belly was big with both pregnancies too. With the second one, I had extra growth ultrasounds and a sugar check. In the end, it looked like a growth spurt. Nick was born weighing 4510 grams, they had estimated him at 8 pounds. Now he's perfectly healthy and the birth was a breeze. I wouldn't worry too much and just enjoy it. Before you know it, the 40 weeks are over!

From the start, my belly grew really fast. At 20 weeks, the midwife said the baby isn't big yet, but my uterus is "happy" to be pregnant and the placenta has a lot of amniotic fluid. I'm still a bit ahead now, but as the midwife said: the baby will catch up.
In 1.5 weeks, the growth scan. Like Anita said: I wouldn't worry too much

My belly also grew really fast. The baby's tummy was a bit big, just outside the curve. I was tested for sugar and had an extra growth ultrasound. No sugar issues, and at the growth scan he was right back inside the curve. According to the midwife, the placenta is just working really well, and it'll be a big boy. Which she doesn't find strange since we're both pretty tall. Most of the weight is clearly on my belly. Super happy that everything is fine, of course, but that comment "are you sure there's only one?" really gets under your skin???? At 28 weeks he was already 1340 grams, so I'm curious how big he'll get!

Don't worry, I've heard that weight estimates can sometimes be way off. And my belly with the second baby is showing much faster than with the first. I'm 23 weeks and have gained 7 kg. With my first, I hadn't gained even 4 kg by now... every pregnancy is just different. Hormones do their thing and work differently for everyone. No worries.

    Good evening..
I actually have the opposite experience.
So in 2 weeks I'll be 5 months pregnant, but my belly is very flat; I can even sleep on it. I feel super insecure because of this, especially since it's my second pregnancy. With my daughter, I already had a baby bump at 3 months. I can even suck in my stomach.

Hope you guys can tell me a bit more. Greetings, Lulu

    Hi,
I'm 7 weeks pregnant now but already have a very obvious belly. Next week is my first ultrasound where we'll hear the little heartbeat. Do you know what could be causing my big lower belly? I have a normal body type... not fat, not thin either...
    Greetings

probably you'll have a big baby, mine was also estimated to be 2 weeks bigger and they're going to do growth ultrasounds.

MA with this many weeks it's quite normal that your belly is already starting to show. This isn't from the baby yet because they're still really small. It's your intestines making your belly look bigger.
