What do you feel with hydronephrosis? What symptoms do you have then?

Absolutely terrible, sharp stabbing pains on my right side, radiating to my back and belly button!!! It's incredibly painful!!! You can't sit still because of the pain! And you feel like you need to pee all the time...
Then the pain comes and goes for a bit, but then it comes back even more intensely!!!! Worse than contractions.....

So that's a kind of kidney colic attack! Unbelievably painful...

Hi! I had hydronephrosis from around 30 weeks pregnant.
Eventually it got so severe that they placed a stent. With that, I managed to carry on (with a lot of discomfort) until almost 39 weeks. It wasn't pleasant at all, but it doesn't guarantee an earlier birth if you can hold out.

    Strength!

    Hi Car,

I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant and woke up yesterday with extremely severe pain that radiated mainly to one side of my lower back. It really came out of nowhere and didn't feel like regular back pain—it was truly unbearable. I went to pee (which I always do when I get up), but I couldn't stay sitting upright on the toilet because of the pain. I lay down on the couch for a bit, and after a few minutes, it was gone again... I haven't had any more trouble with it since.

At first, I thought it might be contractions because of the unbearable pain (I'd heard that you can really tell the difference with early contractions), but after a few minutes, the pain subsided and didn't come back.

Is this similar to what you've felt/gone through?

How are you doing with your Fadila now?

I'm also having a really hard time with kidney pain! It's almost unbearable...but I have to deal with it

I'm at 20-21 weeks now. Going crazy! Already had two hospital admissions, phew.

Hi, how are things going for you guys? I had a stent placed 14 days ago... I haven't had any kidney colic since... but I have constant pain from the stent... I've still got 6 weeks to go... I can't take it anymore... I can only sit and lie down... going outside isn't an option anymore :-( My doctor might induce me at 37 weeks, provided there's already a 2cm dilation...

I would initially think that a stent is the only solution.

Oh my goodness... that sounds pretty cruel to me!

Hey girls, lots of strength. I had it during my last pregnancy from 23 to 30 weeks. It's really painful! I found home physiotherapy after a colic attack really nice.

I've had hydronephrosis (swollen kidney) on my right side since week 25. I also developed a kidney infection. It was very painful. I spent some time in the hospital and am now resting at home.

The midwife and the hospital staff said that the swelling will likely last until the end of the pregnancy, but it shouldn't cause pain. If you experience sharp pains or nagging pain again, you should call the hospital immediately due to the risk of infection.

So, it's all about resting a lot, not working, and staying calm. Hopefully, the baby can stay put until the end of the pregnancy.

Do you currently have hydronephrosis? Or have you had it in the past?

I also had terrible hydronephrosis during my 3rd pregnancy, starting from week 29. So painful! I was constantly vomiting and felt completely awful in the hospital. Tried all sorts of painkillers, even really strong morphine, but nothing helped. In the end, they placed a stent, which was such a relief! Done with a spinal block.
After that, no more complaints, and I gave birth at home. The stent was removed in 5 minutes after 6 weeks.

Went to the hospital yesterday too with severe pain in my right side.
Couldn't stand up anymore, had to crawl to the toilet on my hands and knees. Vomiting from the pain.
Almost fainted because I couldn't hold it in.
They gave me an enema because they thought I was constipated due to pregnancy. It helped for a bit, then the stabbing pain came back.
In the end, they did an ultrasound and it turned out it was also a kidney issue. I was allowed to go home and have to take Buscopan for the stabbing pain and hope it doesn't come back.
Small toilet visits are still not great, but haven't had a new stab today.

The pain was probably really caused by constipation in your case, 1234..
I've been a chronic constipation patient for years. Kidney swelling is also often a result of constipation for me, so an enema was probably the right solution in your case!
