32 weeks and contractions

I'm now 32 weeks and 2 days and have been having contractions for a week. Medication isn't helping, and in just 3 weeks my cervix has shortened significantly, resulting in complete bed rest. I even have to eat in bed and can only get up to use the toilet. But how do you handle it when your husband only started his new job on Monday and my mom can't help!!! I hope she'll stay for a bit longer. I'm afraid the tight contractions and contractions will continue. I have another check-up on Saturday. Our girl has been in a good position for over a week now, but I'm so scared she'll come too early!!! I'm so scared and worried.

Oh, that’s a shock. I wouldn’t let my husband or mother-in-law step in, really. It’s way too important right now that you just stay in bed.

Maybe get some help through the hospital?

You really need to rest, okay.

    Poor thing :-(

Don't know where you're from, but here, if you have contractions before 36 weeks, you're admitted to the hospital. Did you have lung maturation shots? If the contractions keep coming, I'd still go to the maternity ward. My contractions started at 34 weeks, I got bed rest and medication, but nothing helped—they just kept coming. In the end, my son was born at 39 weeks.

I'm from Glabbeek in Belgium. I got some medication and they were going to follow up on me on Sunday. I had severe contractions on Sunday and had to go back to the monitor on Monday, but then they were already a bit less frequent, though still enough. My cervix was very short, so they were even more worried. I had to continue taking the medication, drink lots of water, and rest flat. Today I went back for a check-up and everything looked much better. I already have less discomfort from the hard, painful contractions, and my cervix has grown longer again. I'm still turning away and feel so drained, but that's due to the medication, and it will continue like that. I still have a lot of rest ahead, but it looks very promising. My little one now weighs 1kg762, so everything is slowly getting better :-)
