Stitches in the lower belly

Hi everyone,

I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant. Yesterday, while walking with my class (I'm a teacher and still working), I suddenly got huge sharp pains on the lower right side of my belly. It was so bad that I could barely walk. It felt like something was completely wrong. It happened 3 times, lasted a few minutes each, and then nothing more.

Any idea if these could be a type of Braxton Hicks contractions? The feeling doesn't feel like period pain at all, not dull or nagging, but very acute and sharp.

It's making me a bit worried.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

    Hi Evelien,

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I also get those occasional sharp pains... sometimes it even pulls towards my groin! In the last part of pregnancy, women often have more discomfort in their belly... it rummages around more! Your baby might be dropping down... it's also called the "rummaging period" and the pains usually come on at the sides or lower down in your belly! I think it's all part of it and your body is preparing itself..
If you're not sure, you should always give your midwife a quick call!
The final stages are tough!! Pfff, I'm also glad when it's over!

    Good luck.. love, Lynn

It’s all over now, so for the moment I’m not worrying
Wow, you’re 37 weeks, so it’s really soon!
    Exciting, isn’t it...

    Good luck and enjoy it!
