question regarding contractions (possibly midwife here)

GEMMA
hey ladies, I'm 35+1 weeks pregnant today. Last night I had contractions that wouldn't stop, sometimes every 5 minutes, and they were a bit painful at the bottom of my back. Now they're a bit less frequent, sometimes none at all, or just one here and there. I didn't want to go to the hospital because I didn't think it was necessary; the baby was very active. Do you think it was possibly the start of labor or just nothing?
BTW, I already had 2 cm dilation at 33+2 weeks.

Hi Gemma, I’d just give them a call in your case? Just have it checked?!

It’s stopped now, nothing more. I’m going to see my midwife tomorrow to ask her about it, and I already have a check-up with the gynecologist on Friday, possibly to have the cerclage removed. So it’ll definitely happen soon.

Gemma, you can always call, right?
You should do that quickly. It could just be false labor. I had that too from 35 weeks onwards. But given your dilation was already so early and every 5 minutes? Just give them a call, girl... even if it's just for your own peace of mind.

I'm relieved now, but yesterday was a bit less. No more hard contractions now, or max 4 per hour, so it's okay. Because I know if I should call and go, it's either for nothing or they'll start labor by cutting the cerclage. I have to go to the gynecologist on Friday anyway, so if there are more contractions, I'll just go. I didn't think it was necessary here. I also heard that you can have contractions when the baby is very active, and that's how it was Saturday night too.

Good luck with the final stretch! Hopefully, the little one stays in for a while longer then
