32 weeks pregnant and bleeding

Hi,

I'm currently happily expecting my second baby, now 32 weeks along. The pregnancy has been easy until yesterday morning when I suddenly lost a fair amount of dark blood while getting out of bed. I called the midwife right away who did an ultrasound, saw nothing out of the ordinary, and couldn't give an explanation. I had strong contractions, cramps, and was extremely tired all day yesterday. The baby is doing well and very active though. Throughout yesterday I lost little spots of dark brown blood now and then. Unfortunately, I didn't feel better this morning. I didn't lose such a large amount of blood again, but I'm still losing dark brown blood and brown discharge throughout the day. I still have strong contractions, cramps, and feel tired. Walking is difficult. The baby is incredibly active though. What's noticeable is that I only have some spotting after being active, like after cycling or walking. We're getting quite worried, shouldn't we go to the hospital for a check-up? Does anyone recognize this? And do you have any tips? I feel almost guilty bothering the midwife all the time, but I can feel our baby now and of course really want to bring a healthy, alive baby into the world.

My gut says: just call back and say that you really want to be seen by the hospital to check everything out. It's your baby, your belly, and your body. If it doesn't feel right now, just call. That's what they're there for, even if it turns out everything is fine. Then you'll feel reassured. Better to call too often than too little, and make sure you get some rest. It could be anything and doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I'm all for double-checking things like this.

Totally agree! Just call and get checked as soon as possible.

Bellen.. I was sent to the hospital every time I had bleeding during that term, just to be safe. Nothing was wrong, but better safe than sorry.

Thank you all for your response. This morning I submitted a urine sample, and this afternoon I’m contacting the midwife. We want to be seen at the hospital—I just needed a little support to keep going.
I hope everything is okay and looks good.

I had it too. I was 30 weeks.

I was walking in Lidl, felt something pop and kept walking. Didn't really stop, just continued doing the shopping.
Went to the toilet at home. Pants full of blood. Called the midwife. Had to lie down immediately. Sent to the hospital. I didn't feel well at all. Very tired and constant hard contractions. Spent 2 nights in the hospital. Couldn't find anything out. I wasn't well for at least another week and was extremely tired.

Brown discharge means it's old. Better than red. Not very strange that it happens with movement.

    Hopefully everything was okay.
