Baby name

I have a dilemma. From the moment we were 8 weeks pregnant, we were already sure about how we were going to name our baby. Now I'm due in a few days, and today we got the news that a baby was born in the village where we live. You can probably guess: with the same name we want to give our baby! I'm actually getting a bit sad about it. There's only one school in the village, so that means the kids will have birthdays just a few days apart and end up in the same class with the same name... We don't really know the people whose baby was just born.
What would you do?

Just give the name, okay. If you have to take everyone and everything into account... maybe a baby will be born in a month and that baby will get the name you're still trying to come up with now.

Thanks for your reply BB! Yeah, I think we're just gonna name our baby that anyway... It's just such a shame, I was so happy with the name! Hopefully our baby won't find it annoying later on when they're in class with a namesake!

I get that it’s sad, but unfortunately, you can’t stop it. It’ll all work out fine later on, so enjoy the little one for now—just a little while longer and he’ll be here!

Just let it be For all you know, they'll move away, or you'll move. Or someone else in the village might have a kid with that name. You can't really prevent it, and I can understand you'd rather not have another kid with that name. Elementary school is only for a short while, but your child and you will have to deal with that name for the rest of your lives Wishing you lots of success with the birth and enjoy your little wonder soon!

just give it a go, if you don't really care about those people & nowadays almost everyone has the same names.
we looked up our baby's name online beforehand, where you can see how often the name has been given in the Netherlands (not sure if this is accurate, haha) but ours only appeared 5 times in the Netherlands so I'm curious, I don't know anyone in our area who's having a girl either, thank god.

I get what you mean. I also live in a small village and would feel the same way and would start to doubt.
