vaccination

Ladies, I live in England and apparently, whooping cough is quite prevalent. Out of thousands of newborn babies, 350 have been infected and 8 of them have died, according to the media. Now they recommend that all pregnant women get vaccinated between 28 weeks and up to 36 weeks of pregnancy. Once your little one is born, they’ll get a shot to build up their immune system at 10 weeks. But up until 10 weeks, they could potentially get infected, become ill, and in the worst-case scenario, die. (This is about 10 out of 400, roughly.) That’s quite a lot, so you’d think: go get that shot. I’m going to do it too (tonight), but I’m still anxious about getting such a shot. You never know what kind of stuff they’re injecting, and you’re carrying a baby! This is actually the first time they’re advising this. My midwife says it’s fine, and the doctor agrees, but still... what’s your opinion? Have you ever had a vaccination while pregnant?

Hi Anon, within a couple of weeks I'll also get that shot because my OB/GYN recommended it to me, since pertussis is indeed spreading everywhere.
This is my fourth pregnancy and it's the first time they've recommended it.

    Love, Tammi
