Starting labor?

Hi moms,
I’m 38+4. Last night I lost my mucus plug, and I’ve had real menstrual-like pain all day. I was standing in the supermarket and could almost cry from the pain, then it eased off again. This happens about once an hour. I also can’t sit normally anymore; I can barely sit at all. Could these be early contractions? Or are these just pre-contractions?
Anyone with experience or tips? If I keep walking like this for a few more days, I’ll break down from the pain.

Hi Shelly, my labor started exactly like this 12 weeks ago. First, the mucus plug and pain came quickly, and then contractions followed. I gave birth within 30 hours. Good luck!
