Getting used to your baby's rhythm in advance?

Hello Ladies,

For about a week now, I wake up about 4 times a night to pee or drink something. I heard that this is to help your body get used to the baby's rhythm? Has anyone experienced this?

I'm so tired that I'm collapsing from sleepiness in the afternoon! Yesterday I tried to ignore it, hoping I'd sleep well through the night, but nothing could be further from the truth!

Love, Kim

    @Kimjoy,
    Same here, I’m really going crazy from that whining..
    Umm, I just don’t know if it’s to get you used to it (the rhythm of that little rascal)
    But if there are others who know, I’d love to be informed..
    And otherwise, thanks Kim for adding some more tips.

    Love, Ju

    Hi ladies,

    No idea if that's because I'm getting used to it. Never heard of it before, but it would be nice because I still only have to pee once hihi. It's just the baby lying on your bladder, I don't think it has anything to do with getting used to it.

    Kind regards, Dani

    @Dani,
    D8 is also quite something if this is the trend: peeing every hour and then every hour at night, that little rascal nooooooo way, I'd rather not.. I guess it'll come every 3 hours, I think so.. at least if I read what most women experience with feeding and besides that, I'll let it come to me, it seems the best way..

    I heard someone say that your body unconsciously gets used to your baby's rhythm because of this! That's why I thought I'd throw it out there to the group!

    Sounds unfamiliar to me too.
    What I did (in a grey past, when I was pregnant with daughter or son) was sleep lighter, so you can already "get used to" the night feeds, and because you're sleeping lighter, you hear your baby cry sooner.
    By the way, it works great: on the first night with Maya at home, we were both by her crib after just one sigh :-) (and she slept like a little angel.........)

    @Gerda Thanks! We'll see once the little one is here!
    How are you doing otherwise?

    Hi Kimjoy,
    Before I was pregnant, I usually slept straight through the night and didn’t wake up until the alarm went off.
    I’m now 27 weeks pregnant, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been waking up a couple of times during the night, sometimes to pee, or just because I can’t get comfortable in bed anymore. I also have some back pain, etc.
    What I do now is not drink too much in the evening (after 9 PM), otherwise I’ll have to get up too often to pee. And then I’m sometimes completely awake
    Other than that, there’s not much you can do, I’m afraid.
    Good luck in advance!

    For the past few weeks, I haven't slept through the night at all.
    Over the last 3 weeks, I've been waking up almost every hour at night to pee and/or drink.
    I've really been craving water lately.

    When I try to be stubborn and say "no, I'll stay cozy in bed instead of getting up to pee," I still can't sleep because of the pressure in my belly.

    I had it with my previous 2 pregnancies too, and now again waking up a few times at night (for now 1x to pee) but turning over isn't working so well either and I also wake up to turn over. I think your body is getting used to waking up at night. It's the last stretch! Now it's not so nice but soon you'll have a reason to get up: feeding your little one!

    I experienced with both kids that you also sleep more lightly and I've been doing that for about 5 years because you (often as a mother) sleep according to your children's sounds (just dive into bed in time and if possible, have a nice nap with the little one during the day!)

    And if you're going to breastfeed soon, that helps you fall asleep more easily afterwards because there's some substance in it that makes you sleepy (I was told that though). I often dozed off during feeding and was usually gone again right after. And I think you'll be so tired soon that you won't really lie awake at night (unless the little one keeps you awake of course but that's another story altogether.

    Keep going!......
