How did the labor start?

Today is a big week overdue. Last time, my waters broke and I immediately started getting strong contractions. But what if my waters don't break now? How does it start then? Today I've got noticeably heavy legs, occasional period-like cramps, and hardening belly... a bit more than other days. But one cramp and one hardening belly per hour isn't much. Or is that enough to start? How quickly did it turn into serious contractions for you guys?

    With my first, it started with losing some fluid (turns out it was amniotic fluid), but it was very little.
    Then the contractions started. And a few hours later, she was here.
    Curious to see how this time will go.
