Baby 8 pounds

Hi everyone, I'm now 36 weeks pregnant with my first. It's quite exciting as the birth gets closer. Now our little wonder is estimated to weigh 8 to 8.5 pounds at 40 weeks. We were quite surprised by this. Does anyone here have experience with this? Both with delivering an 8-pounder or if 8-pounders might come a bit earlier than 40 weeks?

You should take those estimates with a grain of salt. They're often not accurate; in my case, they didn't even want to give an estimate.
My girlfriend's baby weighed over 8 pounds. Was born after 41 weeks.

Whether they come earlier or not is hard to say. My girlfriend also hoped for an earlier birth. But well...

I gave birth to my first baby, weighing 4330 grams, at 39 weeks.
Don't worry too much about it. If there were any indications that they expected problems, they would have said so. I was worried too because he was on the 98th percentile, but he just came out fine. With a small tear, though, that was because he didn't like the pushing stage anymore and needed to come out quickly.
Good luck, and the best advice I can give you is to let go and let it happen.

My first baby was also an 8-pounder, 4100 grams, and was estimated at 6 to 7 pounds... so nothing of that was accurate.
I'm quite small and slender myself, but I had a normal (home) birth, pushed for almost an hour but without any tearing.
I'd say, indeed, don't stress too much and just go with the flow.

    Good luck......
I was torn from front to back by my 8-pounder.
But it's all worth it! ????

Here's my first baby, 4210 with 41+2, born at home in 3 hours without any tears!

My first was also 8 pounds. She was estimated at 7. Quite off the mark. I think it's because I'm small and slender myself.
4 pushes and she was out. A small tear, but you forget that when your baby is in your arms.
    It all goes well.
