(t)too narrow pelvis and shoe size = a connection?

Hi ladies,
Today I was completely floored at work. A colleague told me that if you're petite and have small shoe sizes, there's a chance your pelvis might be too narrow for a natural birth?
Are these just myths, or is there some truth to them?
I'm 1m60 and wear size 38 shoes... I'm curious what the gynecologist will say about my pelvis on Friday...

    Hey,
I'm 1m59 and wear shoe size 37.5. I'm currently expecting our second child, and the birth of my first went super smoothly and naturally! Nothing about a narrow pelvis!!!

    @Marieke,
What nonsense, I think it's pure quartz nonsense so.. I wouldn't take too much of this kind of old wives' tale if I were you.. How do some people come up with this nonsense...
I'm also very curious, are you going to present the story like this to the gynecologist? How are you going to convey this...

May I ask why you're going to the gynecologist.

That gynae must have been like "what the hell is this?" pffff... well, she's probably heard more of these rumors, but this one is totally new to me. I've never heard, read, or seen anything like it... I actually burst out laughing when I read the title;-)

This is complete nonsense, I'm sure of it...

My sister-in-law had something similar when I was pregnant. She was also pregnant and was two months ahead of me... She already had two boys and I had one boy... My other sister-in-law also had two boys.

Now it turned out that the pregnant sister-in-law had another boy, and we had a girl... She really didn't like that because she wanted that too.

She went around boasting that IF I had gotten pregnant later and she earlier, then I (the sister-in-law) would have had a girl and SHE (me) would have had another boy...

Yeah pffffffffff just had to say that hahahaha LOL...

I've never heard of that before... what they don't come up with nowadays It would be so easy if they could assess it like that right away. Then you wouldn't have to study medicine anymore....

    @Cin,
Jealousy is what's going on, in my opinion.
I'm also having a third boy. I would have loved a girl,
but it's a boy and I'm really happy with that. Super proud that I'm going to have another baby..
Do you already know what you're having or haven't you seen it yet..
    Maybe yes, maybe no..
Maybe you can try the nub theory on it ;-)

    Hey Ju
Yeah, that's true! And I can kind of understand that side of it too!
No, we still don't have any idea what it'll be...
I don't know if you can see the NUB on my ultrasound...
Is there a thread here where I can post the ultrasound? Maybe someone can tell me haha, I'm not so good at that..

I'm only 1m53 myself. At my 20-week ultrasound, the gynecologist asked me what shoe size I wear. I'm a size 37. If I had size 35, she would've already told me that I probably couldn't give birth naturally because my pelvis would be too narrow...
    I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant.

Hey, that's quite a lot to take in, I have shoe size 35 and I was allowed to give birth naturally.
But for another reason, I ended up having a C-section anyway.

    My gyn said that too...
I'm 1m56 and have shoe size 39. He said in principle no problem because I live with big feet, but he still wants me to do a pelvic floor meeting around 35-36 weeks.

Hahaha funny story. I'm 1.60 and have shoe size 39 and gave birth to a beautiful son in May. Just naturally

I wear size 40 shoes and I'm 1.78m tall. Emergency C-section due to a narrow pelvis. So, a hefty little one.

Here I am, 1.67 m, shoe size 38. Pregnant with my second, and my first birth went without any tearing. Seems unrelated to me... Otherwise, your OB/midwife would have asked about your shoe size
My OB has never asked me about that

Your pelvis is mostly related to your overall build. You can be small but still have wide hips. I'm 1.67m and quite sturdy. My shoe size is 40.5 and my pelvis is too narrow to give birth. My mom was 1.66m, size 38, and also wore size 40 shoes, and her pelvis was just barely big enough (though they wouldn't let her give birth today).

Origin could play a role (it can). In Africa, according to a study, there are relatively few women with a very narrow pelvis compared to Europe. The build of these women is apparently different. In Asia, you see more narrow pelvises in comparison (although both continents are huge and there are many regional differences there too).

If you're small and slender, the chance might be greater? The baby will also be proportionally larger for you than for me, for example... but it doesn't seem like a constant to me...
