preparing for childbirth....

Hi Rinske,
I’ve brought two little clouds into the world and I’m now pregnant with the third. If you feel comfortable with it, definitely make a birth plan and take some courses, but my experience is that once labor starts, all plans can go straight in the trash. All the breathing exercises you learned don’t help at all

The only thing I kept from yoga ed are a few lovely friends with kids!

    Hi Rinske,
I'm 28 weeks pregnant and signed up this morning for a 1-day course (4 hours) at the end of September. So you're right on schedule, I thought. You're not late at all. And as Nancy said, once labor starts, everything goes out the window, I think. HAHA but I'm not speaking from experience, this is my first.
For 2 weeks I've been feeling my baby move well, but because I have a placenta previa it took a really long time and sometimes I don't feel him at all during the day (maybe just little kicks). I also haven't produced any milk yet. I think this is different for everyone.
The only thing I want to look into right now is a "standard" checklist of what you really need at home for when the baby arrives. We already have a nice new crib in his room, a special rocking chair for breastfeeding, clothes, a stroller, car seat. Luckily we don't have to paint the room or anything because we have a nice new-build house. I was just wondering what else you really NEED at home for when the baby arrives.

    Hi Rinske,
I'm 33 weeks pregnant with our third baby. For my first two pregnancies, I took a prenatal course. I really benefited from it during my deliveries. Especially the relaxation exercises and learning how to "puff" helped make my labours go smoothly, in my opinion. And my sister's golden tip: let the pain wash over you; each contraction brings you closer to your baby.

I myself won't be taking a course. The thought of going to breathe in gas makes me want to run away as fast as I can... and my husband laughing even harder! Hihi!!

I wish I thought differently about it because I know you can keep nice friends from it.
But I also believe, like Nancy says, that the actual moment makes all the effort feel pointless.
You can't really "prepare" for something that goes differently for everyone anyway..
So personally, I'm not doing it.
But I totally understand you guys!!
