Do these symptoms come with it?

Hi everyone, for the past few days I’ve mainly been experiencing something like period cramps in the evenings that radiate to my lower back (same level as my lower belly). It lasts for a bit and then goes away. Yesterday it happened 3 times, but now I’ve got nothing at all. I’ve read that this could be round ligament pain because everything is stretching, but since I’m only 28 weeks, I was wondering if other mums recognize this. Last night I really had to grit my teeth twice because of the cramps!!

I also have really fast breathing at the moment. It’s super stuffy in our house, but I feel like I’m experiencing extra shortness of breath because I’m breathing so fast! Do you recognize the above “ailments”?

Thanks.

    Hi anonymous,

    Could they be hard contractions?
I don't remember exactly how it feels anymore (I do get them occasionally when I wake up or after sex, and that is indeed tender, but I'm only 20 weeks).

Otherwise, just call your midwife if you don't trust it; that's what they're there for!
    Strength and success,
    Dani

    Hi Dani,
Yeah, it does sound like Braxton Hicks contractions. I'm only 28 weeks, but every time I walk or get too busy with housework, I get them too. But surely you shouldn't have to take it easy at 28 weeks? I work from home (regularly), and some women don't stop working until 36 weeks... I'm not doing too much and I don't understand why I'm getting these hard contractions/cramps so quickly already....

I think it's indeed round ligament pain, but if you're unsure, always give your midwife a call. Better to call too often than too little!

That's totally understandable that you need to take it easy.
Every body and every pregnancy is different after all; some people keep going until 2 days before the due date, while others have to stay home from 14 weeks, for example.
I also had to stay home from 14 weeks during my previous pregnancy.
Not fun, but all for your baby!

Have you already called the VK?

Hi Dani, no, I haven't called yet because, quite coincidentally, I have to go there on Wednesday morning anyway for a routine check. Since the pain hasn't gotten worse, but keeps coming back in the evening, I've decided to wait until Wednesday and then discuss with her what the reason might be and what she advises! Thanks for your tips.

Lexie, thanks as well! Yes, it does feel like round ligament pain, but it's really such strong period-like pain that radiates all the way to my back, and it keeps coming back in the evening.....
