32 weeks of sluggish growth

Hi ladies, I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago and it showed that our baby is 2 weeks behind. I was referred to the hospital where they did some tests that were a bit more positive (about a week behind). The baby is doing well, the umbilical cord, amniotic fluid, and placenta are all good, but I keep hearing from many people that I have a small belly, which makes me feel insecure. This is my second pregnancy, and my daughter was born weighing 7.5 pounds. We are both tall, so it can't be genetic... I'm really worried about this, especially since I'm not as big as I was during my first pregnancy. I just hope everything turns out fine. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with this.

To be honest, I don't have any experience with this. I've gained more weight in this pregnancy than in the first one and I'm showing really early. But I understand you're worried. Every pregnancy is different and every baby is different. Try not to worry too much and stay as calm as you can. I get your concerns. I'd be super worried too if I were in your shoes, but your baby can feel that too. Maybe you've had a bit more stress during this pregnancy or something like that. I know that with our baby there's also sometimes a difference of a few days in growth. Maybe not as much as with you guys, but still a few days. I hope everything turns out fine for you both. Big hug

Not really the same experience, this is my first pregnancy and I also have a pretty modest bump... the midwife did say after the 20-week scan that the baby was below average in growth, but not abnormal? So I'm holding on to that. I'm not very tall myself either, so that explains it a bit... I hope everything becomes clear quickly for you and that everything is just fine.

No experience with it, but a modest belly doesn't necessarily mean much. I also had a pretty modest belly, and the baby was actually 2 weeks ahead in growth according to the ultrasound.

I personally think you shouldn't worry too much about it. If it were really an extreme growth deviation, it wouldn't just be a 2-week difference. My sister's oldest, she announced that she was definitely big and certainly above average. In the end, half a week after the due date, she gave birth to a girl who didn't even fit size 50. And we only bought size 58 and especially 62 because oh, she'd be on the big side. If we had to buy new clothes again. Ultrasounds give an image, but they're never 100% reliable. Enjoy your little one and she'll come when she's ready!

    Hi!
Our first daughter also had a "too small" belly in proportion. I got a bunch of extra ultrasounds for that, and I thought they made a big deal out of it. In the end, her belly stayed a bit small for the rest of the pregnancy, but I ended up giving birth to a perfectly healthy daughter!
It's good that extra attention can be given to the little one if needed, so everything can be monitored properly. Don't worry too much! And take it easy and rest well!! I reduced my working hours when I got these messages, on the advice of my midwife—cut my hours in half and only did administrative work.
    Good luck!

    How are things now?

It does seem to be going better than expected, indeed. We're still under weekly control at the hospital. Our girl is just a little drop, that's what we're assuming.. still a modest belly but the baby is doing fine in there The countdown has begun..8-D
