False labor?

Hi,

I've had constant aching abdominal pain and a hard belly for the past 2 days in the evening. I'd read that false labor contractions last a short while and come every few minutes. But for me, the pain and hard belly are just constant for a few hours straight in the evening without any breaks. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm 36 weeks now! I mainly feel the pain on the side of the placenta, but that probably doesn't matter much.

I have exactly the same question, but I'm only almost 33 weeks pregnant...

If you're unsure, always call your midwife or the hospital. Especially if you have pain and a constant hard belly. It's better to get advice from them so you know for sure. Even if it's in the middle of the night, it's better to call once for no reason than to beat yourself up if something goes wrong. They really don't mind if you call.

I went to the midwife and everything’s fine, it’s normal for the duration of the pregnancy. I think it’s engagement contractions because he’s already engaged. Really nice to know, gives me some peace of mind.

    Hi,

How does a prodromal contraction actually feel?
So far I've had this sensation on 2 evenings (not back-to-back) like I was about to get my period.
So cramps and a tender belly, but then it was over...
Are those prodromal contractions or is it just the uterus growing?

    Hi
I sometimes had severe menstrual-like pain and cramps in my groin and stuff during my 32nd week. I’d secretly read online that these could be engagement contractions. Last week I went to the midwife, and indeed, the baby’s head had already engaged nicely. So they were engagement contractions. Though everyone experiences different pain or sometimes none at all.
