Hi ladies,

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have a small transverse baby in my belly. Since about week 25, he's been lying sideways. Sometimes I feel like he's turned, but then he quickly goes back to being transverse.

Well, my midwife told me he still has all the time and space to turn into a head-down position. But I think my OB-GYN thinks quite differently about this: ermm:

Does anyone have experience with a stubborn transverse baby? One who still turned at the last minute? Or didn't?

Thanks in advance!

The little one can still turn! If you walk around on their due date, the midwife can still help the baby turn into a good position. No need to stress yet. (I totally get it though.)

We had a transverse lie from 20 weeks. At 36 weeks we did two turning attempts, one with the midwife and one with the gynecologist, but our daughter had already engaged too far. We opted for a breech delivery because our baby was in a very favorable position for it. The day before the delivery they placed a balloon to ripen the cervix. On the day of the delivery they checked if the balloon had done its job, which it had for me, so they broke my waters and I went on oxytocin. After it became clear in the late afternoon that my dilation wasn't progressing and stayed at 4 cm, I had an emergency C-section early in the evening. I recovered very well from this and the next day already gave my daughter a bath and changed her myself. We enjoyed a few lovely days on the maternity ward at the hospital.

Here’s one who went from breech to breech and then to head-down. At almost 36 weeks, she still turned the right way.

    Hi Hemsworth,

My little one was perfectly engaged before the birth.. then during labor he decided to turn and became a star-gazer. After 18 hours of contractions and 2 hours of pushing, I had an emergency C-section, and even then he was pulled out of my belly with a pump.. Apparently he really liked it in mom's belly.

I would definitely go for a natural birth again next time because the recovery was awful for me. I was bruised everywhere, both down below and on my belly. I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days and only after a week and a half could I take a little walk with my little one, who was already ready for it. But recovery does vary from person to person, right.

    Good luck!

    Hey Hemsworth.

How are things now? Just curious how it turned out for you?
I also have a small transverse baby. It's been lying sideways since 20 weeks and hasn't turned even once in between. Because of this, it hasn't dropped either (that can't happen when the baby is transverse). I'm now 36 weeks and for me it's extremely uncomfortable having a nearly full-term baby lying right under your ribs.
On Tuesday I have to go to the hospital; they're going to check if a version procedure is possible since the little one has never turned since the 20-week ultrasound.
So I'm curious to hear your story. You hear a lot about breech presentation, but this doesn't happen that often..
