38 weeks and 5 days and very tired

Hi ladies,

I'm currently 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

I'm not working anymore, so I'm home.

I go to bed around midnight and wake up every 2 hours to go to the toilet, so I don't sleep very deeply.

I get up around 10 am, but by 3 or 4 pm I can't stay awake anymore and already need another afternoon nap.

This doesn't give me much confidence for when the baby arrives Why do I need so much sleep?

Best,

Ellie

Why do you go to sleep only after midnight then? If you go to bed around 10 or 11, you'll have a much better daily rhythm. Then an afternoon nap will also be easier.

And well, why do you need so much sleep? That's actually logical... Your body is carrying a full-term baby and preparing for childbirth. Being pregnant takes a lot out of your body, especially towards the end.

It's not exactly fun, but you have to get through it. Good luck with the (hopefully) last few days!

*edit* I read my post back, and it didn't come across as friendly. Sorry, I've adjusted it a bit

You'll also notice that once you've given birth, you'll still feel tired in the first few weeks, but that fatigue feels very different. Pregnancy fatigue is also largely due to hormones, which you'll gradually lose after giving birth.

Anyway, you'll be running on adrenaline those first few days

    No problem at all, crumbs

My husband works hard and late, then goes to sleep around midnight. I'd rather wait and read a bit more than fall asleep around 10-11pm. I feel like I'd have a harder time falling back asleep if I had already slept...

Counting down to the birth now!
