Hi ladies,

During my last check-up, it turned out that my baby already weighs 1543 grams at 28w5d.

Both the head and the abdomen measurements were off the chart...

So I'm really worried about having a C-section.

How heavy are your babies?

Best,

Ellie

    Hi Ellie,

Here’s our girl at 29.5 weeks, 1650 grams.
    At 31.1 weeks, 1830 grams.
She’s now estimated to weigh 3750 grams at full term (40 weeks). A bit above average for a girl, but not extreme.

Did they mention anything about their thoughts on this? If the baby is really too heavy, they usually first check for gestational diabetes in the mother. There’s a chance they might let you go up to 38 weeks and then consider induction sooner. But do you have another growth scan in a few weeks?

    Best,

So you're about to give birth? Good luck!!

Not much was said about it actually (it wasn't my usual OB/GYN) and it was supposed to be followed up...

I have another ultrasound in 2 weeks.

I'm wondering if they would induce labor around 38 weeks or do a C-section (if necessary) around 40 weeks.

    Greetings

No worries, I still have some time to go—I'm 30 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Based on the measurements we've had, they're estimating how much she'll weigh at 40 weeks..... But thanks anyway!

It's nice that they're following up on you. Just wait and see how he/she continues to grow. Next time, ask them what they think about the delivery in case of a heavy birth weight. (I'm not saying your baby is heavy, of course!) Who knows, your baby might grow a bit slower later on and is just having a growth spurt now.

Wishing you lots of success in the last few months/weeks too.

2 weeks ago, at 33 weeks, our girl weighed 2400 grams and was 44 cm long. Next week we're back for a check-up. Let's see how much she's gained by then. The doctor mentioned she was just slightly above average back then.

Same story here. Had a growth scan last week. Was 31 weeks and 3 days. The midwife saw during the growth scan that my boy is already 2 weeks ahead and just following the upper curve. The estimate was that he would weigh 2200 grams too. Now I've asked how to proceed.

First, my midwifery practice doesn't do early induction because the organs might still be lagging (thinking about the lungs which might not be mature enough to breathe on their own). However, they won't let me go past 40 weeks and then it would be a C-section. If the baby comes naturally before that time, I can just give birth.

Today I did a glucose day curve test. I had to prick blood in the morning fasting and at 11 am after breakfast and again at 3 pm after lunch. They want to see if I'm getting too much sugar. If this is the case, I need to consume less sugar.

Furthermore, I'm getting an extra growth scan on July 19.

Our belly baby is estimated at 2080g at 30+0!

Our daughter weighed 1600g at 32 weeks!

Hey Sarah & Ellie, I don't know if you're still following along, but how are things with you guys?
Here the baby was also estimated at 1.6 kg at 29 weeks, which would be 2 weeks behind.
According to my OB-GYN, there's nothing to worry about and it'll just be a baby weighing over 3.5 kg. Nothing else to worry about.
I have to say I'm also a bit "worried" about how he'll come out, but it doesn't really keep me up at night.
Almost 31 weeks now and he's still in breech

Good morning! My baby was estimated at 31 weeks and 1400 grams. Now, in a week, there's another growth ultrasound. I hope the little one has grown! #makemebestworried

Heidi, my baby was 1583g at 32 weeks. So not a huge difference from yours. She was estimated to be 2.8kg at 40 weeks. She was eventually born at 39 weeks and weighed 3.1kg. So it can suddenly turn around. Good luck

They estimated her weight at 695 grams yesterday at 24+5 weeks. The OB says she'll weigh around 1 kg at 28 weeks. I think that's quite little when I read that here ...

Our girl was estimated to weigh 1128 grams during the 3D ultrasound at 27+2 weeks at St. Anthonius Hospital :-) This matched a gestational age of 28 weeks, so she was a few days ahead We have the growth/position scan with the midwife in about a month. I'm curious

My son weighed 630 grams at 23 weeks. We'll see at the next ultrasound at 27 weeks.

Our daughter kept moving up on the curve. Estimated 9 pounds at 40 weeks. No gestational diabetes (tested twice) and no induction. I didn't want to go past 40 weeks myself because of losing our baby at 26 weeks, and I didn't want extra risks. So we wanted to induce at 38 weeks and 6 days so she'd be born at 39 weeks. But luckily she came on her own at 38 weeks and 3 days/4 days. It was an episiotomy and vacuum delivery, but that was because she hadn't engaged and my contractions weren't strong enough. In the end, she weighed 4060 grams. So the 9-pound estimate wasn't far off. You can easily have a natural birth with a bigger baby.

The first baby was estimated to be around 3200/3500 grams. When she was born... 4400 grams!
With the second one, I had the sugar test and nothing special came up. The baby was estimated to be around 3100 grams at 36 weeks, with about 1 kg more by 40 weeks. We'll see!
  16. Meid23 #17

Our girl was born at 41+2 weeks, weighed 4662 grams, and was 55 cm long ;-)
  17. Flo #18

At 28 weeks and 4 days: 1100 grams. Head and torso are also outside the curve. A bit small.
Estimated to be between 2800-3000 grams at birth.
  18. Joy #19

At just under 26 weeks, he was estimated at 1kg 100g. At 40 weeks, that would be 4.5kg. I'm curious if he'll stay on his growth curve...
  19. Elena #20

At the 20-week ultrasound, they said my little one was above average and we could expect a 9-pounder. At 36 weeks, the little one was born weighing 2150 grams and was 3 weeks behind in growth. My son is healthy and growing great.
