Baby's growth curve suddenly looks very different

Hi ladies!

Quick question: at 28 weeks I had a growth scan, and the little one weighed 1900g and was measuring 3+ weeks ahead. Because of that, I was immediately referred to the OB-GYN. Last week I had another growth scan at 32 weeks, and now he's only measuring a little over a week ahead.

What a huge difference! More than two weeks' difference in growth? So I have another scan in two weeks.

It's probably just a slight difference in measurement, but I think a two-week gap is quite big. Has anyone here experienced this or heard of it before, and what was going on? Ugh, this is making me worry that he's doing worse now or something...

I was so surprised that I couldn't even think of the right questions to ask the OB at the time.

I never take those estimates too seriously. It's just an estimate!!
I've heard multiple times that a baby was estimated to be small and ended up being an 8-pounder, but also the other way around..

What did the gynecologist say about it during the last measurement?

At my appointment, they also said at 20 weeks that it would be a big baby. It was 10 days later. At 32 weeks, the growth ultrasound showed he was still slightly ahead, but he had fallen behind on his own growth curve, so the woman doing the ultrasound said I should probably be monitored more closely. My midwife said it’s not that bad and maybe the 20-week ultrasound wasn’t accurate.
In the end, a beautiful boy was born at 37 weeks, weighing 3320 grams and measuring 48 cm.

She could only properly assess it by measuring again in 1.5 weeks.
Yes, at 20 weeks he was also a week ahead, but it was very clearly stated that more clarity only comes from 28 weeks onward.
I understand that growth ultrasounds don't always have to say much, but it can also indicate reduced growth, and that makes me less cheerful...
