What's really needed?

Annemie,

Here’s a list anyway:
http://www.oeiikgroei.nl/zwanger/checklists/baby-uitzetlijst/

What I took with me was a set of clothes for the baby and myself..
A pacifier if you want one, of course. Here my son was already weaned again after half a year...
A Maxi-Cosi to transport the baby when you go home. Check the weather conditions in which your baby will be born...
Yes, it depends on whether it’s your first baby or your second.. But if it’s your first, you’ll really need 6 to 10 onesies in sizes 56 to 62, and they grow fast...
But definitely a changing mat... But well, that’s the basics for a baby, and there’s also a lot of info for young parents...
I hope you’ll have a great birth and a great postpartum period..
By the way, the maternity care nurse also gives various info sessions, and you could also ask your health insurance provider..
Anyway, you’re entitled to a course.. You’ll also get part of it reimbursed...

Greetings and love, ju or welMavanMi

    Thanks MavanMi for the info!
I'd rather hear from people's actual experiences about what's really needed, because a lot of places try to "sell" you things you don't really need right away ;-)

You're welcome, Annemie... As I already said, I wish you a beautiful pregnancy and a wonderful birth....
There will surely be things I forgot, but maybe others will come along who can give you advice...

You don't need flannel diapers, umbilical cord ties, or safety pins either.

Make sure to get a clean set for your partner too. If labor lasts longer and goes into the night, that's really nice. It can be quite sweaty for the dad sometimes. Deodorant. Things to pass the time. Snacks, chargers.

Definitely don't buy too many size 50s. They only fit for a short time. If you end up with a small baby, you can always buy those later if needed.

Mavami has probably already mentioned it, but stick to the advice here and ignore the sales pitches.

As far as I know, the maternity ward where you register will give you a list of what you MUST have and what you CAN buy as extras. I’d just stick to that. X

    Thanks, mavami!

The list of things for the maternity ward also has some nonsense on it. In my case, for example, I had to have a serving tray. It was supposedly really necessary, but an oven tray wasn't allowed. I bought that thing and never used it. I'm left with an unused serving tray now. I also had to have my bed on blocks despite having a low-height bed in the living room. Didn't do that. It wasn't necessary at all because I had that low-height bed.

You can never have too many hydrophilic diapers. Especially not in the beginning. We had 2 changing mats, one upstairs and one downstairs. I'd recommend that.

A list of what you do and don't want during labor and the postpartum week is definitely not unnecessary. Between all the emotions and changes, you're just not yourself anymore, and neither is your partner. Mine ran around like a headless chicken, hihi. We used that list to remind ourselves of what we really wanted during the postpartum week. Everyone kind of imposes themselves on you anyway. Definitely take your rest.
